BLEECKER

I have used many sources to compile the Bleecker genealogy

The main resource is Anthony James Bleecker's unpublished work compiled in the 1920's and housed at the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.

Other sources include the Bleecker Bible, the research of Alexander Lewis McDonald, Henry Despard and dutchman Peter Dirck Bleeker.

Though there has not been a definitive book on the family, there are numerous printed sources, including the 1996 offering by Maitland Bleecker, and many newspaper articles. (SEE THESE SOURCES FOR ONLINE NARRATIVES ON THE FAMILY).

The Bleecker clan has long been interested in its own genealogy. I have many documents from the 19th century written by ancestors as they attempted to piece the Bleecker tree together.

I have also used the New York Times, The Social Security Death Index, The IGI and various charts/graphs/letters in my possession which may or may not be accurate.

Of course hundreds of descendants have been added thanks to contributions via letters and emails from Bleeckers who have found this web site over the last four years.

If I feel it’s a quality source I have added the information here hoping to find as many of Jan Jansen Bleecker's ancestors. Corrections and additions are made all the time.
