Journeys Through Time

A collection of journals about genealogy and history

 Welcome
To journey is to travel through space and/or through time.  A journal is the written record of this travel. This web site is a multimedia record of the journey of the families of Clarence DePriest and Sarah Jenkins and of Barrett Whisnant and Lela Eaker from their European origins to the mid twentieth century.
A family's history is more than a series of "begets".  It is also the time and circumstances in which the people lived.  The families in this work come from both humble and royal lineage.  I have endeavored, as much as possible, in this work to give a flavor of the times, places and events in which they lived and participated.  Some involvement is proven, some is based upon substantiated conjecture.  Hopefully I am clear as to which is which.  Both should give perspective to the lives of our ancestors.
In keeping with the belief that the study of one's family should not just be a series of begets, the format of this project is distinctly nonlinear.  Electronic multimedia allows me to present this information in a format where you can explore people and events in any order.  You can learn of the family in bits and pieces, much as our ancestors passed along our heritage in the pre-Gutenburg age of oral tradition.  There is no beginning, no end -- just story groups.
