  • Download Pennington Day 2005 Grant Application -- Pennington Day Grants Available: July 1, 2005 deadline to submit application

  • Organizations wishing to apply for grants from Pennington Day 2005 have until July 1 to submit their applications.

    All applications should be typed or written clearly in black ink. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any application postmarked after July 1 will not be considered.  In addition to this website, applications are available at Pennington Borough Hall and at the Pennington Library. Applications also can be obtained by calling Emily Schwab at 737-9550, ext. 42. Grant applications will be considered from organizations that benefit the recreational, cultural, historical, beautification and human needs in the community. Special consideration will be given to Hopewell Valley organizations that have supported Pennington Day activities in the past. Any organization that intends to re-gift funds to another individual or foundation is ineligible for a Pennington Day grant. Grant recipients will be required to use grant money within one year of when the money was given and for the sole purpose stated in the grant application. Feedback and a report on the use of funds will be requested. Misuse of grant money will result in forfeiture.

    Pennington Day Tee Shirts Can Now Be Pre-Ordered.

    Pennington, NJ, Thursday, April 14, 2005 --
    Pennington Day tee shirts can now be pre-ordered. The shirts are available this year in long sleeve and short sleeve models. The design you are looking at (to the left) will appear on the back of the white, cotton tee shirts, with "Pennington Day 2005 -- 25th Anniversary" imprinted in green lettering in the front left corner of the shirt. Shirt sizes will be available in small, medium and large (both short sleeve and long sleeve) for children, and S-XXL sizes for adults.

    Pre-order your shirts today (click on this link!) -- follow the instructions on this form to order.

    Hopewell Valley Students: Order your tee shirts using this form. Hopewell Valley parents and students will receive more information about the availability of the tee shirts either by email or flyer shortly.

    Pennington Day Mixed Tennis Tournament

    The 2005 Pennington Day Mixed Tennis Tournament will take place on May 14 at 9:15 am on the Pennington School courts. Format for play is a round robin. The tennis pairs are divided into two groups. The two winners from each group play each other, and the two runners-up from each group play each other in the finals to be held immediately after the completion of the round robin.

    The winners and the finalist from each group receive 90 minutes of free court time at the Hopewell Valley Swim and Tennis Center. The Tennis Center is the sponsor of the Tournament.  Registration forms may be picked up at the Hopewell Swim and Tennis Center, Pennington Borough Hall, and Pennington Library. (We hope to have an online version available soon.)
    Notable Entertainers Scheduled to Appear on Pennington Day

    A number of notable entertainers are on tap for this year's Pennington Day, May 14.  Among them are Storyteller Susan Brozena from the Garden State Storytelling League, poet Edith Kaltovich, from the New Jersey Poetry Society, who will be doing "Magical Poetry," and magician David Sharlin and the critically-acclaimed Randy James Dance Works who will perform at the crossroads at 2:00 p.m. The Highland Park-based modern dance troupe has performed internationally and is recognized for its commitment to dance education, having conducted community-based residencies and workshops for people of all ages all along the Eastern Seaboard.   We also hear that professional magician Bruce Langrock is one of the many entertainers that will be providing free shows during the day.


    Pennington Day Quilt Show

    "Thimble Pleasures"
    Pennington Presbyterian Church Heritage Hall
    Saturday, May 14  from 9:00 am-4:00 pm

    Cost is $1, most of which goes back to Pennington Day and the Presbyterian Church.

    Everyone can vote for his favorite quilt, and the Viewers' Choice prize winner will receive a gift from the Pennington Quilt Works, the local quilting store located in the Pennytown Shopping Center.

    Features of the show include:
        . video corner with videos of such things as national shows and quilting techniques
        . demonstrations of some techniques
        . antique quilts

    Most of the quilts were made by members of the Hopewell Valley Quilters.  The Hopewell Valley Quilters meet the third Thursday every month at 7:30 at the Hopewell Valley Branch of the Mercer County Library. Membership is open to anyone interested in quilting. Communal stitching times are every Thursday, but the first Thursday of the month at the same library, usually from 10:30-3:00.

    We encourage you to allow us to display your quilts at the show. For information,  call Carole Allison at 609-730-1343 or Trina Weller at 609-466-2395.

    Interested in Selling Food at This Year's Event?
    Keeping it Local


    In the spirit of community, the Pennington Day Committee has decided to restrict the food vendors for the May 14 event to those from the
    Hopewell Valley. For prospective vendors, organizations, clubs and individuals who would like to serve or sell food at this year's event, please read the
    Food Vendor Information Form, then download, print, complete, and return the Food Vendor Application Form.
