Robert Baber and
Jane Pendleton
Robert Baber was born in Albemarle Co., VA 1725. Robert died 6 Jul 1786 in Campbell Co., VA, at 61 years of age. In adulthood Robert moved from Albemarle County to Bedford County. There he was a Justice of the Peace and one of his depositions survives in the papers of George Washington. He also actively assisted the Continental Army during the Revolution. After the war, Bedford County was divided into Bedford and Campbell County. Robert's property was in the area which became Campbell County.
He married Jane Pendleton in VA, abt 1748. Jane was born abt 1725. Jane died after 1786 in Campbell Co., VA. While nothing definitive is known about Jane's ancestry, she is probably the granddaughter or great granddaughter of early Virginia settler Philip Pendleton (b. 1654). Philip had descendants living in northwestern Virginia in the early 18th century. This would make her a cousin of the noted political leader and jurist Edmund Pendleton (1721–1803), delegate to the first Continental Congress, speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates and first president of the Virginia Supreme Court.
Robert Baber and Jane Pendleton had the following children:
i.
ii.
