Yacub's Devils

Yacub's Devils, the
Mothership, and the Man
In the U.S., the movement of the neo-Muslims (or, members of the Nation of Islam) has gained considerable attention lately.  Due to their theatrics and vociferously anti-White speeches, most people have heard of them.  Their beliefs are very unusal--to put it lightly.  The neo-Muslims have attracted quite a few followers since the formation of the Nation of Islam (NOI).
The neo-Muslim religion was an off-shoot of the Moslems, a religious group of people who predominantly exist in Arabia, but was markedly different.1  It is important to be able to distinguish between the neo-Muslims and the orthodox Moslems.  Therefore, before describing the neo-Muslim's beliefs, I will first tell of the Moslem's beliefs so that the differences between the two religions can easily be recognized.
The Moslems follow the tenets of their prophet Mohammed, who lived from 571-632 A.D., and refer to God as “Allah.”  The Moslems believe that Mohammed was the last prophet on earth and that the Quran (or Koran), which was written by Mohammed, is a holy book.
During Mohammed's life, he preached that people should follow a decent lifestyle and keep “morals”-some of which it appears that the U.S. itself is losing.  Mohammed was born during a time when those in Arabia worshipped many different gods.  Prostitution had become acceptable.  Vice was common.  Women were treated as dirt--to be walked over and used as pleased.  To say that women in Arabia during that time were treated as second-class people is the understatement of the century.  In fact, when a man died during that time, his widow was often part of the inheritance and was acquired by his heir (who was always another man); and his heir could do anything that he pleased with the widow, including having her killed if he did not find her desirable or worth keeping.  Demons and evil spirits were attributed to diseases.  Relationships were for merely satisfying sexual cravings, much like animals.  Gambling was rampant.  War between tribal factions occurred regularly.  Drunken orgies were commonplace.  Songs and poems that were obscene were often given during public assemblies.  Sodomy was common.  The rule of the day was do whatever you please.  Mohammed tried to change all that.2
Mohammed came along and told his people that they should change their evil ways.  According to Moslem scholars, Mohammed and his followers were often persecuted for attempting to change the deviancy that had become the norm in Arabia.  Some were even brutally killed for attempting to change his country's wayward ways.  At one time, while most of his followers were gone and he was with only one follower at night, his house was attacked by “bloodthirsty youths” from different clans.  “In the dark of the night, with only one companion, he made his way through the streets of Mecca to the bare and rugged hills outside, and a hiding-place was ultimately found in a cave known as Thaur,” noted Maulana Muhammad Ali, a Moslem scholar.3  Despite differences, Mohammed initially established friendly ties with people who held other religions.  Later, however, it appears that “the Jews and the Christians were his enemies.”4
According to the Moslem scholar Naseer A. Farooqi, there have been many wars waged in the past between Moslems and Christians, resulting in numerous deaths.  The first conflict between Christians and Moslems occurred when the Moslems, said Farooqi, “invaded Spain and the Mediterranean islands, and the Christians had the worst of the clash.”  Next, the Muslims swept through Asia Minor and “wrested from the Christians their principalities in that region, including the sacred city of Jerusalem.”  The Moslems eventually “not only conquered Constantinople but went on to Eastern Europe right through to Poland.  Whatever the causes for these conflicts, they alienated the losers, i.e., the Christians.”  Likewise, “Christian empires of Europe” began the Crusades and attacked the Moslems.5
Although there are many fundamental differences between the Moslem relgion and others, there is still much that can be learned from Mohammed and many things that can be admired.  For example, although in the latter part of his life he could have easily lived a leisure lifestyle, he still milked his own goats, dusted his house, worked as an ordinary laborer during the construction of his mosque, fought as a soldier, did his own shopping (and even shopped for neighbors and helpless women)--all this “notwithstanding the dignity of his postion as Prophet and King” among Arabs.6  He never acted superior among his Arab followers and treated them on an equal basis.  His followers would often stand when he arrived.  Mohammed would say to them, “Do not stand up for me as do the non-Arabs.”7  Aside from Mohammed's polygamous relationships with several wives whom he married from the time he was 54 until 60, his morals should be admired.8  Without a doubt, Mohammed helped his people rise above the decadence that surrounded their culture.  Further, most Moslem scholars of today agree, based on Mohammed's writings, that Moslems should not incite violence but should only defend themselves against attacks.  Although the religion is still primarily followed by non-Whites in Arabia, they do accept White proselytes into their religion; and there are a few Whites in Russia, the U.S., and other places that embrace Mohammedanism (or orthodox Islam).
The neo-Muslim religion began sometime during the early 1930s in the U.S.  The movement was headed by a man who named himself Master Fard Muhammad and who said that he was from Arabia.  Fard also went by numerous aliases: Wallace D. Fard, Wali Farrad, Professor Ford, Farrad Muhammad, Fard Mohammed, The Prophet, Supreme Ruler of the Universe, Fard Muhammad Ali, and Allah.  The name with which he was called when born is Wallace Dodd (although he will be referred to hereafter as simply Fard).9
Fard ascertained his ideas from a character known as Noble Drew Ali (a.k.a. Timothy Drew), the Black founder of the Moorish Science Temples.  Ali preached that Blacks were not equal to Whites but superior to them.  He said that Whites were doomed.10  Speaking to his followers, he told them that Blacks were “descendants of Moroccans.”11  He preached to his followers, which were said to be quite numerous at the time, that Jesus was a Black man whom the White Romans killed.  Ali mysteriously disappeared in the 1920s.
Fard took Noble Drew Ali's ideas and added some unique ideas (to put it mildly) about the history of the world of his own.  When Marcus Garvey, the Black leader of the several million member back-to-Africa movement (described elsewhere on this website), was deported and Noble Ali mysteriously disappeared, Fard's organization began to increase in members.12  He preached his religion from July 4, 1930, till June 30, 1934, in Detroit.
Fard's cult blossomed-beyond even what he probably envisioned.  In just the four years after it first started, there were about 5,000 adherents.13  Today, I imagine that there are anywhere from 1 to 5 million people who either adhere to the NOI's doctrines or who support the group financially or sympathetically-and spreading; in the 1960s, the number was about 250,000.14   But, then again, the acceptance of cult-philosophy has been on the rise.
Fard had a unique life.  After just having been released from San Quentin Prison for having sold narcotics, he went to Detroit in 1930.15  At first, he merely sold silk garments to Blacks.  While delivering his goods, he gained their confidence.  He began to teach them their “lost” history--a history which is now regarded as the Afrocentric curriculum in colleges, which is mentioned in the web page Pseudo-Egalitarian Education.  Also, he would tell them that if they followed his prescribed dietary habits, they would not have the ailments afflicting them from Detroit's cold weather.  A resident of the area, Mrs. Lawrence Adams (a.k.a. Denke Majied), explained how Fard's operation worked:

“He came first to our houses selling raincoats and, then afterwards, silks.  In this way, he could get into people's houses, for every woman was eager to see the nice things the peddlers had for sale.  He told us that the silks he carried were the same kind our people used in their home country and that he had come from there.  So, we all asked him to tell us about our own country.  If we asked him to eat with us, he would eat whatever we had on the table, but after the meal he began to talk: `Now, don't eat this food.  It is poison for you.  The people in your own country do not eat it.  Since they eat the right kind of food, they have the best health all the time.  If you would live just like people in your home country, you would never be sick any more.'  So, we all wanted him to tell us more about ourselves and about our home country and about how we could be free from rheumatism, aches and pains.”16

Looking at some of Fard's observations, you have to wonder how so many people could be adherents of his philosophy.  There is no question that it promotes what is called “Black pride” among Blacks, which is probably one reason why so many Blacks like the religion.  An excellent example of his doctrines can be found on page 25 of the Nation of Islam's Training Manual.  The following is one of the revelations that was given, quoted ad verbum (punctuation errors and all):

“Thus says, almighty Allah, our Saviour and Deliverer, arise!  Up out of the blind ignorant, and savage condition.  Let me make you known to who you are.  You do not know yourself, or anyone else, nor have you known your father.  This is my work to teach you who you are, and of your nation, and who the devil is, and how you should live.  What you should eat, and what not to eat, and how to keep clean. But first know your self, then you will know the other man.  You are being called a Negro and colored people, by the Caucasian devil White man, but you are not a Negro nor colored.  You are an Asiatic, from the Tribe of Shabazz.  The word Negro means, something hard, not sensitive, like a piece of dead wood.  This is not your name, or nationality.  The colored people, are the so called White people.  You are the Supreme Being, of the planet earth.  The cream of the planet earth. . . .  [emphasis added]”17

Fard's popularity grew.  His message that Whites-are-devils was embraced by the Black community in Detroit.  Many of the residents invited him over to their houses to hear him speak.  Soon, they invited their relatives and friends over to listen.  They began to give him money.  Meetings at houses were filled.  He had to have different sessions to accomodate all the people who wanted to listen to him.  His followers could only listen to him at their appointed group meeting.  However, although he scheduled meetings at different times, those meetings eventually became overcrowded.  Since it was inconvenient for his followers, they eventually decided to rent a hall, appropriately named the “Temple.”18
The money started flowing.  Although Fard's followers were very poor, they gave him their money so that they could hear more of his teachings.  Also, he gave them their “real” names back-for a fee.  He told his Black followers that the evil White people had given them a name, a “slave name.”  And, he wanted to give them their “true” Islamic name back to them.  So, he had his believers write a letter, asking for their true names.  He charged each of his followers $10.00 per name.19  This was an exorbitant sum for that period of time, which was shortly after the depression.  You can see how that adds up: 5,000 followers times $10.00 per follower equals $50,000.00.  Fard was doing rather well selling his beliefs.
Fard's antics and speeches made him renown among the Blacks in Detroit.  He would often wear robes when he delivered his sermons.  In an early work--which was written by his protégé Elijah Muhammad (or “Mohammed,” as he called himself then) on July 2, 1933, and entitled “Department of Supreme Wisdom”--it has this to say about Fard, the founder of the neo-Muslims (quoted verbatim):

“This man, Fard Muhammad, was born in the holy city of Mecca, in Arabia, in the year of 1877.  This man, spent fourty-two years of his life, in preparing himself for his work of setting up righteousness on the earth, and to raise the sleeping dead, the ignorant seventeen-million original Black people, the lost found Nation of Islam.  The prophet does not mean that we would be physically dead, but mentally dead to the knowledge and understanding of ourselves, or our father, who made the earth and the heavens and all the things therein.
“This man, knows the Holy Qur-an by heart, and tells the life of ever[y] prophet that appeared before him, and their work from the cradle to the grave; without consulting any book.  He teaches us both past and the future.  His words are not like those, who studied the past, from histories, but as one who seems have been at the scene of the happenings.  Therefore, this shows that he was born for this work, and not made for it by schools.  Remember he tells what will be in the future, day by day, and year by year, without a hesitation in his words.  He does not force anyone, nor does he argue with anyone about believing what he says, he is independent about that.  But he warns you sternly that he is your best friend and that we will face every word he has told us.
“But we have been deprived of the wisdom, and knowledge of ourselves, for near 400 years, and this is the cause of our unbelief in Him, in which we fulfilled the scripture where it says, he came unto his own and his own received him not.  John the Ist. chapter and the IIth. verse.  His father is a Black man, and his mother a Jewish.
“He have proven that he knows everything we do, and hear every word we say, or even our own thoughts.  He is able to communicate with his people in Asia, without the use of wires, or radios, or any other instrutment, but his his ears.  He causes them whom he is communicating with, to appear to you before your eyes in a glass of clear water.  His wisdom is unlimited.  He despise, witchcraft and root doctors, they are all liars, and teaches you know they deceives you, and exposes their secrets  [emphasis added].”20

This opinion of Fard, disseminated in the neo-Muslim's Training Manual, however, does not stand up to facts (nor reality, for that matter).  In particular, he was not “born in the holy city of Mecca,” nor was he of Arabian descent.  He was born in New Zealand on February 26, 1891.21  When Fard reached the age of 26, his common-law wife, who was working as a waitress in Los Angeles, had his child.  On the child's birth certificate, Fard noted that he was, in fact, “white.”22  Pictures taken of Fard show the same thing.  In a picture of Fard that I have, he appears to be a somewhat dark-complexioned White, has a rather wide nose, and has straight black hair (which helps explain how he was able to get away with his anti-White shenanigans by saying that he was an Arab).  Nevertheless, he was White, and it appears that the neo-Muslims have difficulty explaining that.23
Fard did not believe the ludicrous stories that he told his followers and even admitted that he was using these stories to make a few extra dollars.  When Fard was arrested by the police in Detroit on May 25, 1933, he told them that his teachings “were strictly a racket.”  He had no reservations admitting that he was “getting all the money out of it” he could.24
It was probably a slight problem in the NOI's beginnings that a White man was preaching hate-the-Whites rhetoric.  But, as with all problems, there are solutions; it appears that there may have been a rather strong solution done to correct this slight inconvenience.  On June 30, 1934, “Fard just completely vanished off the face of the earth,” as one writer said.25  Some people have suggested that he may have had a tragic ending as a sacrifice; and, although that is mere speculation, it is possible.  If he was killed for that reason, he would not have been the first.
There have been a couple of attempted sacrifices-at least one of which was carried out-in the Nation of Islam's beginnings.  Robert Harris (a.k.a. Robert Karriem) was arrested for killing his roommate, John Smith, in November 1932.  The two had decided to make Smith a sacrifice so that he could become, said Harris, “the Saviour of the world.”  At the appointed hour, 9:00 a.m., Harris stabbed Smith in the heart.26  In January of 1937, Verlene McQueen (a.k.a. Verlene Ali), an assistant minister, was arrested right before he began his “ceremonial slaying.”  Apparently, McQueen was preparing to cook his wife and children.  The sacrificial offering was supposed to have “cleansed him from all sin,” said McQueen.27
Elijah Muhammad took over after Fard's mysterious disappearance.  Perhaps, Muhammad felt that Fard was a traitor to the neo-Muslim's beliefs, since Fard was a White guy.  On page 95 the neo-Muslim Training Manual, which Muhammad wrote, he explicitly stated that any “traitors” to the neo-Muslim cause should be killed.  Muhammad said (slightly edited to ease understanding):

“Anyone [who] becomes converted to Islam shall begin living the prescribed law.  . . .  A committee of three must be formed by the minister or captain to report of any undesirable conditions going on by Muslims in their homes.  All traitors, who betray their brothers or sisters, [will] be murdered without mercy.”28

Elijah Muhammad has an interesting history.  Muhammad was 1 of 13 children born to a Black Baptist preacher in Georgia.  He was uneducated and worked as a field laborer, in a saw mill, and on railroad gangs before meeting Fard in Detroit.  Fard proceeded to make Muhammad the “First Minister of Islam.”29  Elijah Muhammad usually had the title “The Honorable” preceding his name (so that the initials from his name became an acronym-“THEM”), and went by a vast number of pseudonyms, as did Fard of the neo-Muslim hierarchy.  Muhammad was also known as Elijah Poole (the name with which his parents named him when born), Elijah Muck Muhd, Gulam Bogans, Elijah Karriem, Prophet, Messenger of Allah, Divine Leader, Savior Allah, and Our Deliverer.  Reportedly, a Muslim was required to address him as “Dear Savior Allah, Our Deliverer” in a formal letter, when they joined the NOI.
Fard's beliefs were stridently promoted by Elijah Muhammad, and many more Blacks joined under Muhammad's leadership.  After all, it seemed much more acceptable for a Black neo-Muslim to be lecturing about White devils than a White person.
Although the members of the Nation of Islam say that they are “Muslims” and claim to worship “Allah,” they have little in common with orthodox Moslems.  For example, orthodox Moslems do not believe that Whites are devils.30  Also, the neo-Muslims do not like the ideas of having White converts (though a White person would have to be somewhat insane to want to join).  In Elijah Muhammad's Lost Found Muslim Lesson No. 1, it has this to say about converts (edited):

“Why does Muhammad make the devil study from 35 to 50 years before he can call himself a Muslim Son and wear the greatest and only Flag of the Universe?  And, [why must he] add a sword on the upper-part of the Holy and Greatest Universe Flag of Islam?
“Answer-[Muhammad made him study that long] so that [the devil] could clean himself up.  A Muslim does not love the devil, regardless of how long he studies.  After he has devoted 35 to 50 years trying to learn and do like the original man, he could come and do trading among us; and we would not kill him as quick as we would the other devils-that is, [those devils] who [have] not gone under this study.  After he goes through with this labor from 35 to 50 years, we permit him to wear our holy Flag, which is the Sun, Moon, and Star.  He must add the sword on the upper-part.  The sword is an emblem of justice, and it was used by the original man in Mohammed's time.  Thus, it was placed on the upper-part of the flag so that the devils can always see it so he will keep in mind that [he will be killed] any time he reveals the secrets.  We give him this chance so that he could clean himself up and come among us.  [If he does not use this chance,] his head [will] be taken off by the sword.  The holy flag of Islam is the greatest and only flag known.  The Universe is everything-Sun, Moon, and Stars.  They are planets.  Planets are something grown or made from the beginning, and holy is something that has not been diluted, mixed, or tampered with in any form.”31

The neo-Muslims have developed their own religion.  It is unlike anything before it.  The members of the NOI believe that Jesus “was killed by a deputy sheriff.”32  The neo-Muslims believe that Jesus was Black.  They believe that he hated Whites.  They believe that Whites were oppressing Joseph by underpaying him as a carpenter; and, because of that oppression, Joseph almost did not marry Mary.  The following is what Elijah Muhammad had to say about Jesus, Joseph, and Mary (edited so that it is comprehendable):

“Jesus was a full-blooded original Black man.  His mother's name was Mary, and his father's name was Joseph (Yursup).  Mary and Yursup were schoolchildren together.  They always loved each other.  They agreed to marry when they were very small children going to school.  But when Yursup and Mary grew to the ages of 15 and 17, Yursup went to Mary's father and told him that he loved Mary and Mary loved him-that they wanted to be married.  But Yursup was a poor man, a commoner.  He also was a carpenter by trade, but was one of those rough kind who built little rough houses in southern Europe for devils-Caucasians.”33

Another interesting thing about the neo-Muslims' religion is how they feel Whites came into existence.  They believe that an evil Black scientist named Yacub (or Yakub) created White people on an island called Pelan.  This, the neo-Muslims claim, occurred through a “grafting” process.  They say that Yacub would stick a big needle through the brains of dark Blacks to kill them, and he allowed any light Blacks to live and made them breed with one another.  By doing this repeatedly to several generations, he supposedly developed a White man.  After this White man was created, he turned out to be nasty.  They chased him into the hills of Europe.  After a period of time, the White guy developed a tail and lived in caves with his cave-White-woman and his trusty cave-dog.34  When Malcolm X was a member of the Nation of Islam, he described the neo-Muslims' fairy tale about them making Whites:

“. . . [A]fter six hundred years of destruction on the island of Pelan, they had grafted away the brown, grafted away the yellow, so that all they had left was a pale-skinned, blue-eyed, blond-haired thing that you call a man.  But actually the Bible calls him the devil.  That's the devil the Bible is talking about: old Lucifer, Satan, or the serpent.”35

John Ali, who was a neo-Muslim spokesman and businessman, described his belief that Whites-are-the-devils: “Certainly, we teach our members that white men are devils.  We don't see why any white man should object to this.”36
There are also supposed to be Black devils.  Black devils are what some used to call “Uncle Toms”: those Blacks who work for a living and work with, rather than against, Whites.  When Blacks are successful, they are branded Black devils-that is, unless they donate their hard-earned money to some organization for the express purpose of destroying Whites.  The University of California at Berkeley had a neo-Muslim speaker, Abdul Malik, who spoke of-what he called-the Black devils.  “Today, there are a lot of black devils out there,” Malik ranted.  “They look like us but are not down with us. . . .”37  (Oddly, in the course of his speech, he stated that some Whites were “with” he and his fellow neo-Muslims, as if any sane White person could be.)
Lately, there have been many nice-looking books that members of the Nation of Islam have produced to prove their belief that Whites are devils.  One of the most acclaimed books, marketed by the neo-Muslims, is called Making of the Whiteman: History, Tradition, and Teachings of Elijah Muhammad by Paul Guthrie.  His book is foot-noted and is very nicely written.  It attempts to give legitimacy to the beliefs held by the neo-Muslims by quoting Elijah Muhammad's books and other books that deal with myths, folklore, and legends.  For instance, Guthrie talks about a legend held by Maidu Indians.  In an attempt to prove that Whites were some type of bizarre creation who were derived from non-Whites, Guthrie says:

“In their record of making Man, the Maidu point out that in the beginning, God made two people out of dark red clay, but that one day after a garden was planted those same two people turned very white.  Not only is the Maidu account similar to the Bible's story of Adam and Eve, but it also offers information supportive of the postion that the first white people were somehow transformed out of an earlier darker-skinned people.”38

If the neo-Muslims believe that Whites were made by an evil Black scientist by the name of Yacub-or by a Black God, who got bored one day, planted a garden, and decided to make a couple of White people out of red people, who, in turn, were previously clay-you might wonder about the neo-Muslims' history regarding Blacks.  Elijah Muhammad described his created history (edited):

“Three hundred and ninety three years ago, the devil, the Caucasian White man, fooled our foreparents to come over here by lies, promising you that you could come over here and get a sack of gold and easily return.  The Whites said that they had found this country with plenty of gold in it.  Thus, our forefathers came with the expectation of getting a sack of gold and returning, not knowing the devil's intention of putting them in slavery.  So, a few Blacks came over with the devil.  The devil did not buy us.
“Our first forefathers that landed on American soil 393 years ago did not come out of the jungles of Africa but from the Egyptian land near the Nile River.  By no means were we savages at that time.  We became savages since we came over here.
“We belong to the Tribe of Shabazz.  This tribe is the first of the human family on the planet earth.  It came with the earth when we departed the moon 66 trillion years ago.  We settled on the best part of the planet in the heart of Asia at the holy city Mecca in Arabia.  This place in Arabia is known to all wise men as the heaven-part of the planet, for the Son of man came from there.  We came and found the rich Nile Valley in Egypt, which is known to be the richest soil on the planet.
“Thus said the almighty Allah, our saviour and deliver, our departing from the moon was caused by one of our very smartest scientists who became discouraged with his people, because they were not like he wanted them to be.  So, he drilled a tube or hole in the center of the moon's surface, which was a little over half the diameter of the moon, filled it with explosives, and set it off.  And, this explosion split the moon into two parts: one piece dropped 36 thousand miles, which is the part we live on, called earth; while the other part went out 12 thousand miles and turned over and over again, which caused its civilization to be destroyed and all of its water to drip on the first part.  The part that lost its water and destroyed the life on it is the moon.  There is no such thing as earth.  It is the moon, the part which is our nearest planet.  Scientists will agree with you on this wisdom, because evidence of the moon and earth proves the saviour's word.  So, you who don't know, keep silent, lest you be made a fool of yourself.”39

A common belief among many of the neo-Muslims is an unidentified flying object that they believe exists.  According to their fantasy, this UFO can ferry them back and forth to the moon.   Just as the members of the NOI have numerous aliases, the UFO is known to the neo-Muslims by many names: Mothership, Mother's Wheel, Motherhood Ship, or Mother Plane.  Supposedly, it hangs out in the clouds; and, one of these days (according to their tale), it will swoop down to earth and destroy all of the “White devils.”  The NOI says that the the Mothership is a “humanly built planet, housing an entirely, if you will, extraterrestrial new civilization beyond the technology, science and imagination of this present world.”40
Since there is a very limited number of Blacks who are engineers, technicians, chemists, or scientists, the belief in the Mothership-an unidentified flying object that they believe is circling the earth, piloted by Blacks-is tantamount to the neo-Muslims' ideology.  It helps promote their feelings of superiority over Whites, who have only built jets, rockets, planes, helicopters, and hovercrafts that do not measure up to the capabilities of the the neo-Muslims' imaginary Mothership.
Elijah Muhammad began the story.  He probably felt that the story was necessary to help instill good feelings among Blacks.  Later, Louis Farrakhan helped keep the story going.  Even Malcolm X participated in the charade.  When the FBI investigated Malcolm X, they heard his story about the Mothership:

“[Malcolm X] told [a congregation at New York's Muslim Temple No. 7] that there was a space ship 40 miles up which was built by the wise men of the East.  And, in this spaceship, there are a number of smaller spaceships, and each one is loaded with bombs.  [Malcolm X] stated that when Elijah [Muhammad] of Chicago, Illinois, gives the word, these ships will descend on the United States, bomb it, and destroy all the `White devils.'  According to [Malcolm X], these bombs will destroy all the `devils' in the United States, and . . . all the Muslims in good standing will be spared.”41

The neo-Muslims feel that their “technology” in the Mother Ship surpasses anything ever created by White people.  There is even a book written about it, entitled The Mother Plane.  The book alleges that this Mother Plane “is a humanly build [sic] planet,” which “is capable of defeating the white race.”42  The Mother Plane is a compilation of various articles that appeared in either the newspaper The Final Call or its predecessor, Muhammad Speaks.  The book The Mother Plane has this to say:

“. . . [A]s Messenger Elijah Muhammad teaches, `Since 1914[,] which was the end of time given to the devils (white race) to rule the original people (Black nation), man has been preparing for a final showdown in the skies. . . .  Allah, the Best of Planners, having a perfect knowledge of His enemies, prepared for their destruction long ago even before they were created.'”43

In the newspaper Birmingham World, which is written for Blacks, the Black newspaper columnist Marcel Hopson briefly mentions the Mothership in his column, which is entitled, “Some Folks, Especially Some U.S. Presidents and Governors, Have Liquid Concrete and Steel Running Through Their Veins Instead of Blood.”  “Since I came into this Messed Up nation and chronic Mixed Up world by the way of that beautiful Motherhood Ship,” rants Hopson, “I have been well aware of most American citizens' phony declarations and phony practices of Religious Practices and human Brotherhood [Hobson's emphasis].”44
Jabril Muhammad, a writer for The Final Call, has mentioned the magical UFO and-in the same breath-those “devils.”  He writes about this in his column Farrakhan the Traveller.  J. Muhammad even claims to have “attended a `UFO' conference in Mexico with Sister Tynetta Muhammad.”45  It must be nice to be able to attend a UFO conference.  Lowly Whites, like myself, are denied such privileges.  Louis Farrakhan has even claimed to have attended a voyage on this Mothership.  While Farrakhan was “on board the Mother Plane,” he purportedly discovered that the U.S. was “planning a major war somewhere on the planet.”46
Tynnetta Muhammad (where do all these Muhammads come from[?]) discusses the UFOs that supposedly visited the earth somewhat recently.  She begins by discussing so-called “UFO abductee victims.”  She says that the claims of these abductees are being investigated “by teams of serious scientists.”  Who are these “serious scientists”?  Two of those listed by her are “psychical” and “paranormal” scientists (and I use that term liberally).  She shares what she believes will happen when the mythical and magical neo-Muslim UFO swoops down to earth to destroy Whites:

“The Great Mother Wheel is a space vehicle of an advanced technology beyond the limits of the present world.  And she does house an advanced civilization with power and force capable of making this world bow in submission to the divine will of its creator.”47

There may be another reason for the neo-Muslims to mention the Mothership along with some of their other unusual rhetoric: to create a smoke-cloud.  If no one takes them seriously because of their fictitious stories of UFOs and such, the government is less apt to take certain measures against the neo-Muslims.  If that is the case, it will only work for a while for the NOI.  However, it is difficult to say one way or another whether they actually believe this stuff, and that is mere speculation.  Perhaps, some of them really do believe in this Mothership.
As you might expect, some states in the past have determined that the Nation of Islam is un-American.  In response to this, the late-Elijah Muhammad, on the front page of his publication Muhammad Speaks, wrote a headline that asked, “What Is Un-American?”  He said that his teachings were not un-American for a reason.  Muhammad said, “This is untrue, for we only teach them who YOU really are.”48
Due to the discord caused by the Nation of Islam, it was originally thought to be a communist-organized group.  However, the group is not communist (although there has been at least one prominent member who was a self-proclaimed communist, Malcolm [X] K. Little); the group is just virulently anti-White.  Nevertheless, communist groups have attempted to work alongside the neo-Muslims, because both groups' plans are intent on destroying the U.S. for different reasons.  For instance, Gordon Lightfoot, a Black who was once the vice-chairman of the Communist Party, U.S.A., tried to unite the communists with the neo-Muslims in a “mass struggle” against the U.S.49   Lightfoot's idea of a “mass struggle” was not greeted with enthusiasm among the neo-Muslims.  And, I imagine that many of the embittered White communists had a little difficulty accepting the neo-Muslims into their movement as well, since they would be working against themselves (which is often the case among communists).  It should be pointed out, however, that the neo-Muslims do have their own separate idea of socialism--that is, redistributing White people's money, political power, and property to Blacks in the U.S.  An excellent example of this is found in the Lost Found Muslim Lesson No. 1: First Term Assignment of Mr. Elijah Muhammad, which calls for the “filthy” Whites to give what they have to Blacks so that everyone will be “equal in everything.”50  But, that is the extent of the similarity.
The Nation of Islam has had a few brushes with the law.  They have been investigated by the FBI.  In 1942, for instance, Elijah Muhammad himself had some trouble with the government.  When he was arrested, he was discovered hiding underneath his mom's bed, wrapped inside of a carpet.  When some police officers arrested Muhammad, they heard him say some rather unusual things: “Japan will be the Saviour of American Negroes” and “Our prayers were answered by the bombing of Pearl Harbor”-to name a couple.51
The members of the Nation of Islam or, neo-Muslims have many other unusual beliefs.  To learn more, click here.
The Nubian Islamic Hebrews and Nation of Islam are far from being the only anti-White groups in American culture.  Many others have existed, and continue to do so today.  One group, which existed in the past, even plotted to bomb the Statue of Liberty to demonstrate its hatred.

Footnotes

1 Note the spelling difference-“Muslims” and “Moslems” (the variation of the “u”/“o” and “i”/“e”).  Although many of the latter group-that is, the orthodox “Moslems” who follow the tenets of their prophet “Mohammed” who existed circa 600 A.D.-now use the same spelling as that which has been espoused by the Nation of Islam, I will use the spelling variations to distinguish between these two groups.  Also, the spelling “Muslims” will be used in reference to Islamic fundamentalists, who have made certain changes to the doctrines of their prophet Mohammed.  However, both ways of spelling are commonly accepted, even by the orthodox Moslems; and I am only using the spelling variations to help distinguish between the two groups, with the word “neo-” before references to the members of the Nation of Islam to add more clarity to the differences.  (It must be noted, however, that in the Nation of Islam's early years, even they spelled those words “Moslem” and “Mohammed.”)

14 Since the Nation of Islam keeps its numbers in secret, however, it is hard to make an accurate estimate; and those numbers are just based on various newspapers from both its sources and the major media.  For instance, the neo-Muslims newspaper reportedly sells over 1 million copies per issue (though the actual number of subscriptions is unknown to me), and speeches, which Farrakhan has given, have attracted over 100,000 people.  There have been several set-backs that the Nation of Islam experienced: Fard's mysterious disapperance, mentioned shortly; Malcolm X's assassination, noted in a later chapter; and one of Muhammad's children becoming an orthodox Moslem and taking many of the neo-Muslims with him.  If those events had not occurred, there would probably have been more members than there are currently.

23 Although some members of the NOI do not know that Fard was White, others try to suggest that he was God incarnate and came as a White man so that Blacks would accept him.  “[Fard] came in the clothes and flesh of a devil because we were among devils and wouldn't listen to anybody Black,” said Louis Farrakhan, the current leader of the NOI.  “So His father had to go and get a special kind of woman to make Him to appear a special kind of way so that He could get close enough to us to save that one from among us who would turn around and ultimately save us all.”  Louis Farrakhan, The Meaning of F.O.I., (Chicago: The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Educational Fund, 1983), p. 6.

30 The concept of White devils-or any “devils,” for that matter-is not believed by orthodox Moslems.  The Moslem scholar Maulana Muhammad Ali explicitly states that Moslems “believe in the angels but not in the devils.“  “On the other hand,” says Ali, “the Holy Quran requires disbelief in the devils: `So whoever disbelieves in the devil and believes in God, he indeed lays hold on the firmest handle.'”  Maulana Muhammad Ali, Islam: The Religion of Humanity (Canada: Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishà'at Islam Lahore, 1985), p. 21.
