My Perception of the Perfect Church
My Perception of the Perfect Church
1. Reformed, Calvinistic, and Preteristic
2. Family oriented.
A. No age segregated Sunday school classes or groups separate from the main church body.
B. No youth groups
C. Children of all ages should be welcomed and encouraged in the sanctuary.
D. The nursery should not be used for baby-sitting but only as a place of refuge for nursing mothers and babies who become uncontrollable.
E. Other than Sunday gatherings, activities should be kept to a minimum with no regular Wednesday services.
D. An ideal schedule would be one main service, Sundays, 1:30 until 7 or 8pm. These hours could include a family teaching segment, a formal service, a gender specific teaching segment, a supper hour and fellowship time. This schedule would eliminate the Saturday night and Sunday morning stress and would assist families in keeping the Lord’s Day dedicated to rest and worship.
3. Reverent and formal order of service.
A. The worship service should be orderly and structured.
B. Creeds, traditional hymns, and the catechism should be a vital part of worship.
C. Expository preaching, not topical, should be the prevalent practice.
4. Respect and Reverence for God’s House.
A. Avoid Soda machines lounges, coffeehouses, gyms, commercial kitchens, coffee makers, etc.
B. Dress in respect to worship and gender.
5. Community oriented in practice.
A. The church should practice Biblical standards in caring for the widows and those in need.
B. As in Acts chapter 4, the church should "Be of one heart and one soul" in the responsible sharing of possessions and services having no one who lacks.
C. The church should be an active part in the neighborhood around it. Service projects such as raking leaves and shoveling snow randomly would go far in making the community feel welcome in the service. Active visitation and invitations should be practiced.
6. Active in Biblical teaching and standards
A. The church should be debt free and encourage its members to be the same.
B. The church should encourage and support families in their personal Godly endeavors such as home schooling, Christian schooling, debt free living, etc.
