the facts and jive
August 2003
Of special interest to our fans in the UK: Stingray Green, the Vandalias side-project-turned-going-concern, has been invited to play IPO Liverpool on 10/18/03. Besides myself and Kent Militzer, the band will be joined for this show only by Jay Holgate on bass. Those of you who caught the live Vandalias/Mock 5ive shows at Poptopia and IPO in years past will remember these three as the classic Mock 5ive guitar/vocal frontline.

Friend:
The Vandalias slipped quietly away to their final reward early in 2002. They went in their sleep, peaceful, contented in the knowledge that they were the coolest freaking thing that a lot of people had ever seen.
Contrary to our once-stated intentions, there will be no more live performances by the "real" band -- Pete Lockner on drums, myself on vocals and guitar, Kent Militzer on lead guitar and vocals, Jay Holgate on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Bart Bakker on bass. We had a great time playing for you, and playing together.
Kent and I have launched a new band, Stingray Green, along with onetime Vandalias collaborator Dan Boardman (bass) and Robb Burnham (drums). We'll be performing this spring at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Chicago, and more info about the band will soon be available at stingraygreen.com.
So thank you from me, from Pete, our brothers in the band, and from our bud Shawn Wolfe, whose illustrations and fecund imagination brought the Vandalias to the doorstep of Hollywood glory.
And thank you to JimJim, Bobby and Alan Vandalia, bright perfect souls in whose name we gratefully slaved for eleven years.
Yours,
Dan Sarka
