Although I tried to keep this site up with Compuserve, their old Java script is not compatible with new computers and only works sporadically. Not only that, Java will become obsolete next year and will now longer be available. I'm forced to close MonkeyJohndot Banana, at least for now. Riot

A vampire hisses
And lost souls moan,
An old witch cackles
Ancient mummies groan;
A pack of werewolves howl
And a banshee screams,
These are the sounds
I hear in my dreams.
Quiet, the lot of you
And not a peep!
How's a kid supposed
To get some sleep?
The Wizard’s Castle

The wizard’s castle stood atop
A mound of shimmering ice
In the middle of the lake.
There were intruders once in a while.
They came with their torches and swords
And amulets carved out of dragon’s eyes.
The invisible wizard glided
Across the castle’s gilded aisles.
He would watch them pick out the rubies,
Emeralds, and diamonds from the walls.
Sometimes the wizard would let them leave.
Their satchels bursting with stolen gems.
But sometimes, too, he would blow
The ancient dust upon them
So that the castle’s glass walls
Could seal them home forever
With the nameless faces in the glass
That waited to be seen.

Rough Terrain

The Land Cruiser lurches
Across the pockmarked
Skin of the sleeping beast.
It drools to form a brackish
River pooling at the long
Hollowed scab in its neck.
Giant black flies gather inside
Its gaping mouth. Its snores
Are heard around the world.

Hanging Out on the Moon

I sailed for the moon when she was new,
but a crescent in the sky,
to land on the moon when she was full,
round and pleasing to the eye.
But I’ve stayed up here for far too long,
and now the moon is shrinking.
I hang from her tip; she’ll soon be gone.
What could I have been thinking?
