The photo on this page is now 4 years old, and much has changed since we took it. We just don't have a better photo to put here right now, and this page only holds one picture. We started it when Compuserve was the biggest online service, so that tells you how old this page is! Bare-bones, but great for its day!
Lisa and I have now joined the "Empty Nest" club, as both of our chicks have flown from the nest. It takes some getting used to, but we are adjusting. Lisa is now working full-time at Prattville Christian Academy in order to get Sarah through college.
Laura is married and is now Mrs. Norris. She and Josh celebrated their first anniversary last October. They bought a home in the Forest Hills area of Montgomery, but they are worshiping with us at the Prattville church. Laura is now working for a dermatologist in Montgomery. Josh works for A and P Auto Service as Parts Manager in Montgomery. They presently have 2 Alaskan Huskies that have blue eyes and big appetites!
Sarah finished her freshman year at Freed-Hardeman University where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She sings with the University Chorale is a roommate with her cousin, Sherry Pratt. She has been dating Shane Conrad from West Virginia since October of last year. She took her very first plane flight to visit him during the last few days of Christmas break.
I went on a two-week mission trip to Ukraine in March where I participated in a campaign in Krasny Luch. It was my 8th trip to Ukraine since I began going there in 1992. We had one baptism and did Bible studies that will hopefully result in later conversions. We also encouraged a weak and struggling church there.
Lisa and I will celebrate our 25th anniversary this year. We will be making a special trip to London at the end of May. This has been Lisa's dream trip for many years. We will also visit a village north of London where my Missildine ancestors lived. It is called "Odell" and is in Bedfordshire county.
I have developed a new hobby of family genealogy and am putting together an extended family tree. I hope to write a book at some time about the Missildine history. If any Missildines have stumbled onto this page from a web search, please contact me so I can put you into my records!
We had a terrible tornado that hit Prattville on February 17, 2008. It did a tremendous amount of damage, but thankfully, our home was spared. We were only 3 blocks from the path. Several of our church members suffered damage, with two families' homes being totally destroyed. Thankfully, no lives were lost at all! There are photos on the Prattville church web site. Click on the link at the bottom of this page.
Sarah graduated from Prattville Christian Academy on May 19, 2007. She received an academic scholarship for her GPA and ACT score. During the summer, she worked for PCA Summer Camp.
During her senior year, she played on the volleyball team which had a winning season and were undefeated Area Champions.
Sarah was one of the two nominees from Prattville Christian Academy for the Wendy's Heisman award which recognizes student athletes who also excel in academics and community service. She was featured in the local newspaper for this honor.
She and Rachel Easterling won first place in the PCA talent show in November as Sarah sang and Rachel accompanied her on the piano.
Sarah was chosen by her classmates to be one of three senior girls on the Prattville Christian Academy Homecoming Court on October 13, and her dad had the honor of being her escort. She wore a dark red dress and had a lovely soft-curled hairstyle for the occasion. She and the other senior attendants rode into the field on a Mustang convertible. It was a great night to remember!
Sarah participated in the College level of the Lads-To-Leaders/Leaderettes program in Atlanta this year and won first place in the Winners Circle Songs Of Praise.
Sarah and Brent went on a "Daddy-Daughter" camping trip just before she went off to college. With the brutal heat wave, we decided to head to the high elevation and cooler temperatures of the Smoky Mountains. We camped out for two nights in a tent beside a crystal-clear stream, cooked on an open fire, went hiking, horseback riding, and tubing down a mountain river. It was a refreshing break from the brutal heat of the summer of 2007, and a time to make some great memories.
Sarah turned 18 on September 9, 2007, and it was the first time we were not with her on her birthday. That was hard, but we had celebrated the weekend before when she was home for Labor Day. Several of her friends came over and they had a great time.
My mother, Merle Missildine, is 83 and lives close by to us here in Prattville. We are thankful to have her near. She is struggling with eyesight problems and is slowing down some, but overall doing well.
Lisa's sister, Beth, her husband, Vic, and daughters, Sherry and Becky moved to Prattville in July of 2006. It is so great to be with them regularly and worship together.
Just recently, Lisa's parents sold their home in Pensacola and are making plans to buy a house in Prattville! They will still keep their main house in Gulf Breeze and float between both places for a while, but we are happy about the prospect of getting them up here with us.
Brent preached in a weekend gospel meeting in Parrish, Alabama on February 2-4, 2007 with the theme, "Moving Toward Maturity." The church there has asked him to return for a meeting in 2009. He also preached in a gospel meeting at the Grady Church of Christ March 11-14, 2007 where the theme was "Revival." There were four public responses.
Brent spoke for the Scenic Hills church in Pensacola on May 4 for their 25th Anniversary special day. He preached for the Scenic Hills church from June 1989 to December 1999. We had a wonderful day seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The church made us feel so very welcome and appreciated. Laura and Josh went with us too and everyone was happy to see them.

In older news...
Sarah took a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas in July, 2006 with Lisa's mother and her two cousins. This was her first trip out of the country.
Lisa lost her grandfather, Leslie Rhinesmith, who died on November 13th, 2005 at age 89. I assisted with a memorial service in Pensacola, Florida and there was also a graveside service in Gadsden, Alabama.
Lisa's mother, Sherry Phillips, was diagnosed with breast cancer last spring, but has finished her chemo, radiation, and surgery and is now cancer free! We praise God for answered prayers.
We went on a family vacation in June 2005 to Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains and had a wonderful time.
Lisa and I went on a mission trip to Kramatorsk, Ukraine in March, 2004 where I taught in the Bible school there, and Lisa taught in English classes. We encouraged the church there as they had their first worship assembly in their new building. They had over 200 in attendance. We also had private Bible studies with individuals and tried to encourage some of the ones who had fallen away in recent years. It was a great trip. On the way back we spent the night in Paris and saw a few of the sights in the short time we had.
Laura graduated in the very first graduating class of Prattville Christian Academy in May, 2004, where she had the honor of being Salutatorian. After attending Faulkner University for her first year, she attended Capps College, where she completed the program for Medical Office Assistant.
Things are going well in the church, and the Lord has blessed us with growth. We began worshiping in our new auditorium on August 22, 2004, with an attendance of 534, a new record. We then broke that record three weeks later on Dedication Sunday with an attendance of 602.
