I was horns waggled, I rent this movie expecting some Cinemax
late night Sci-Fi and soft porn. In fact I got the heartlessly cut R rated
version (Mental note: Read the rating label BEFORE renting the movie).
The sad part of it is the previews before the film had more action than
the feature. OK here is the story, and a feeble story it is.
It is the future, an unknown year (maybe 2030 bu really who cares).
Felix and Maxine are building an android that is supposed to be the perfect
mate, but something goes wrong with the programming (that's how I feel
about this version of the film). They shut her down and leave to go do
some research into the problem when a lab assistant, named Chambers, comes
in and tries to steal the program for a rival company. He activates Veronica
and of course has to "try out" the Android, once things start getting good
they cut to the end of the scene (bastards). Chambers starts to fiddle around
with the computer to try and get the file and Veronica just disappears.
Felix and Maxine come back to find the naked Chambers (thank god for the computer
desk) and that Veronica is missing. After a small penis joke by Maxine, Chambers
leaves and the team tries to sort out the problem. Ready for a Terminator
rip off? They discover that Chambers accidentally invented time travel and
you have to be nude when you go through.
Veronica finds herself in 1998 in the middle of Hollywood, and she
is in a place called Harry's "House of Fetish" (I am not making this up).
She has inadvertently wandered into a photo shoot, and since she's programmed
for pleasure is glad to be there. We find out that Harry's company is about
to go under and since Veronica is "perfect" she may be just what the they
need to turn a profit. Harry's not so trusty photographer, Dan Silver,
takes the pictures to Harry's competitor Camilla, I think this is to let
us know he's a double agent.
Later we find Harry checking out the competition, Camilla's cable
station, by watching various clips from other Surrender Cinema features
(I spotted a couple from the previews at the beginning). This goes on
for quite a while actually, just popping from clip to clip. (So that's
how they made up for all the stuff they cut). Veronica pretty much offers
herself to Harry but for some reason (I thought he may be gay at first)
he doesn't seem interested.
The first photo shoot was a total success, and now Veronica is the
star of Harry's catalogs and really turing his failing business around.
Another photo shoot brings more attention and now Camilla wants Veronica
for herself. Using Dan Silver, Camilla gets Veronica to her studio and seduces
her (THEY CUT THE LESBIAN SCENE... those bastards). Now Veronica is the
star of Camilla's cable network and getting it, live on the air, from
Gunther.
With Veronica gone Harry's company is going down the toilet again,
and then they find out that she is working for Camilla. Harry, Billy Jo
and Bobby Jo figure out that Dan Silver is behind Veronica's change of employment.
Veronica is not very happy with working for Camilla and misses working for
Harry because he was so nice to her.
Felix and Maxine are searching for Veronica and finally pinpoint where
in time she is. The pair decide to travel back in time to find her and
they strip to travel time (have to be naked remember). When these two egg
heads see each other naked they suddenly realize that they want each other
and have sex before going back in time.
Back in 1998 Harry and crew discover the two naked eggheads on the
floor and the story starts to unfold. With the help of Felix and Maxine,
and the sexual torture of Dan Silver, Veronica is brought back to Harry
and his company. We find out that Veronica is in love with Harry, and that
part is Maxine's little addition to Veronica's programming. Harry decides
to get out of the porn business and the eggheads decide to stay in the past
to have a little vacation and a lot of sex. The End.
Aside from the bad acting and cruel editing this movie was interesting.
I'm gonna have to get a copy of the unrated version and update this review.
Whoever edited the R rated version has no heart at all. Build you up
and just before you get to see anything good they shoot you in the face.
PURE EVIL (R rated version edited by SATAN, KING OF THE DAMNED)
Felix worked with Maxine for three years and never noticed she was
hot? She didn't wear a bra under her lab coat Hell I noticed that in the
first 5 minutes of the film, this guy must be blind or just really stupid.
I noticed several Fed Ex references, is that good product placement
or what. I can see it now... "Get your vibrating latex G-string faster
with FED EX".
If it's the future they could have come up with something better than
attaching aluminum foil over her goodies with masking tape.
A remark is made that people who watch "Dr. Who" are geeky. I ...
well um. OK we are geeky but at least we're proud of it.
Why would they be using a 1.44 MB floppy in the future? Whoever wrote
this doesn't know a microchip from a potato chip.
