AAU Chemistry Scholarship
 AAU Chemistry Students Scholarship Fund
AU chemistry students
As a way of supporting and attracting students with good academic record to study chemistry in Ethiopia, we have launched a scholarship award program at Addis Ababa University, in collaboration with the Chemical Society of Ethiopia. The scholarship award selection process and the administration of the fund are undertaken by CSE. The award will be given to 2 outstanding sophomore students for 2000/01 academic year at Birr 100/month for 10 months. These students will be supported until graduation as long as they maintain a certain minimum set by CSE and the selection committee. For 2001/02 year, we will add another two incoming sophomores. Starting 2002/03, we will have two students each at sophomore, junior and senior levels.

Memorandum of Understanding between CSE and ECSNA on the administration of the Chemistry Scholarship Scheme.

1.  ECSNA agrees to provide two scholarships to qualifying first year students who would like to study chemistry.  The scholarship at present provides 100 birr per month per student for a period of ten months during each academic year.  The scholarships are renewable every year until graduation provided the student meets the criteria set by the Selection Committee.  ECSNA agrees to send one year's fund prior to the start of the academic year, i.e. September.

2.  CSE agrees to administer the scholarship scheme.  It will set up a Selection Committee of three members of the Society.  This committee will be responsible to set up the criteria for selection in consultation with the Executive Committee of CSE.  ECSNA can suggest what the criteria might include or changes as needed but the final criteria will be the responsibility of CSE and the Selection Committee.

3.  At the end of each academic year, CSE will furnish ECSNA with a report on the utilization of the funds and the progress of the scholarship holders.  Any comments, feedback that ECSNA has will be submitted within four weeks of receipt of the report.

4.  The scholarship scheme can be modified or terminated by mutual agreement of CSE and ECSNA.

5.  Either party can terminate this agreement by giving a six-months' written notice if irreconcilable differences exist.  The termination will take effect at the end of the academic year.
