The World According to Garp (movie)

Thought it departs occasionally from the plot of the book and inevitably leaves out some key moments, the film is nonetheless one of my favorites. Robin Williams is surprisingly near-perfect as T.S. Garp, one of his finest and earliest feature film roles. It's long, clocking in at 136 minutes, but a pleasure all the way through. There are some excellent supporting roles by Mary Beth Hurt, John Lithgow, and Glenn Close (one of her first roles as well).

If you look closely, you'll find that one of the wrestling coaches is none other than John Irving himself. As far as I know, this is his only appearance in a movie of any kind.
