GUITAR WIZARD!!!

Joey has been singled out by Guitar Player magazine (Oct,91) as having "a great tone and appealing Hendrix influences".
Joey is a proud endorser of Marshall and Vox Amplifiers, and is using their new handwired series of amps for his live shows.
Joey has been endorsing Eastwood guitars and has worked closely w/ owner Mike Robinson in helping develope the Eastwood line of guitars. In November Joey and his trio took part in a webcast for Eastwood guitars in Toronto that was broadcast around the world. And at this years NAMM show Eastwood debuted the Joey Leone Signature Guitar.
On stage Joey uses Eastwood telecasters and Fender Stratocasters. One of his faves is the Eastwood Sidejack whick is a Mosrite style guitar w/ P 90's and a Bigsby that just sounds and plays fantastic.
Joey's Favorite guitars are his completely stock 1956 Stratocaster and 1958 Telecaster as well as a mint 1958 ES5 Switchmaster w/ 3 PAF's. Joey also still plays his old 73 Strat. Rounding out Joey;s faves are his mint 1967 ES345, and 58 Reissue Flametop Les Paul. And his beloved Eastwood Joey Leone Signature Guitar and JL Sig Limited Edition.
Joey believes truly that the amp is the biggest part of his sound. This is where his ongoing relationship w/ amp guru Bill Carruth is so importent. Bill and Joey are kindred spirits who work closely on these amp projects.
He also use's a 1958 Gibson ES5 w/ 3 PAF's As stated Joey uses Fenders amps brought back to life by his close friend and inspiration Bill Carruth of Montpelier Vermont. Too many amps to list but a few of his faves are a Carruth rebuilt Kelly amp from the UK a blackface Pro Reverb, vibrolux Reverb, and Super Reverb. A silverface Vibrosonic Reverb w/ a JBL D130F modified by Bill to blackface Twin specs. Bill also took a 1965 Cordovox accordion amp and turned it into a one of a kind monster combo w/ 2 Altec 12's OUCH! Joey also uses a Cordovox Leslie cabinet.
For effects its all retro stuff excluding a few Line 6 effect modeling pods. First in the effects chain is a Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer, then into a Fulltone Clyde Wah. Next is an Ibanez AD9 analog delay, plugged into a Mutron Micro 5 envelope follower. Last but not least is a MXR Micro amp. Joey also uses a vintage Uni-Vibe plugged into his Marshall 1974x combo
Joey has recently stared working w/ Denny Coleman of Coleman Electronics and has endorsed Denny's much heralded "Musicians Junkyard Screamer" which is based on the TS 808. Joey believes that Denny has come up w/ Tube Screamer sound but w/ the improvemants of a less noisy sound and true bypass as well as a kill orange LED that does not kill the tone or the battery.
Great work Denny!!

For his acoustic show joey uses an Ovation Custom Legend 6 string and an Ovation Legend 12 string. For slide in the show Joey uses a 70's vintage metal Dobro and a National Style O and a National Tri-Cone resonator guitar. Tuned to open A,D and E respectfully. For both electric and acoustic slide the slide of choice is the heavy XL Dunlop glass slide.
