My Dogs!
Precious & Mighty
Precious is a Spaniel mix. I have had her since March 3rd 1990. She was probably about 3 months old. She is a very sweet dog and very communicative. She is the type of dog that even people who aren't familiar with dogs can relate too.
She likes pretty much anyone and is very food motivated. Her favorites are probably pizza and any type of bread. She is good with other animals and LOVES kitties.
Presh was run over by a car after dashing out the door when she was about a year old. As she has aged she has more trouble with that hip/leg. I give her glucosomine and that helps tremendously. I think thats why she isn't as cuddly as she use to be but she still insists on being near you.
In about May 2002 she was diagnosed with early heart failure and is on permanent medications now. She is doing very well on them. In July 2003 she had surgery for a ruptured disk in her back. She is doing very well but still has some slight weakness in that one hip/leg.
Mighty is likely a Mastiff/Lab mix. I got him from the local shelter on October 4th 2000. They estimated he was 9 to 12 months old (I am leaning more towards 9). He stood out to me right away as soon as I walked outside.
He is very sweet but was very confused as to what was expected of him and frightened of people especially men. His previous owners (who likely drove him to the area he was found and dumped him) had not taught him ANYTHING. This was a dog that was already approaching 100 pounds and he didn't even know how to walk on a leash. He learns very quickly and with love and some basic training he really developed a lot of confidence.
Mighty is an indoor/outdoor dog and REALLY loves his guarding the yard duties. He gets along well with other dogs but when they are walking past HIS yard he acts as if he would tear them to shreds. He and Precious get along great and he also gets along well with the kitty... though at first he just didn't know what to think about him.
