Tom Lea
Lea Then Lea Now
Tom Lea was an Artist/Correspondent for Life Magazine in World War II. Armed with a hand full of pencils and a sketch pad Tom Lea was sent to document the experiences of our armed forces during WWII. Lea was also issued a Ka-Bar knife as his only "weapon," which he used to sharpen his pencils. His knife and copies of his more famous renderings are currently on display at the Parker House Museum. Visitors to the Parker House Museum will also learn of Lea's background. Raised in El Paso, he is a native West Texan and was the artist who painted the mural, "The Stampede," in the Odessa Post Office; a signed print of which is on display at the Parker House.
