& Vice President ![]() Tom & Marlene Boylan |
My
name is Marlene Boylan and my husbands name is Tom. I am a Cosmetologist and Tom is a Union Carpenter. We have three children. It was June 10, 1994 when our 13 year old daughter Tiffany and her best friend Tammy, 14, were killed together by a train, the night before Tiffany's 8th grade graduation. The whole spirit behind starting APART is to make railroad tracks safer and try to prevent needless railroad tragedies. If we are successful in making railroads safer then maybe, just maybe, we will prevent another family from waking up every single day without their loved one, as we do, without Tiffany. |

Wife, Mother and an Administration Assistant, at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. After the tragic death of my niece, Tiffany due to a railroad accident, I became aware of the great need for increased railroad safety measures. By being a member of APART, I will be able to do something to increase public awareness, on a broader scale, of the ever present dangers high speed railroad lines present to our communities. |

I am married with two children, and I am also a Customer Service Agent for a major American air line. I became a member of APART as a result of the death of my niece, Tiffany Boylan. After her death, the result of being hit by a SEPTA train, I knew it was time for something to be done. Being the father of two small children and having many friends with young and older children alike, I knew that it was time to educate the public as to the dangers that lurk on todays railroads. At the same time force the railroads to observe their moral obligation to respect all life forms on the terrain we share, especially in the densely populated communities they speed through. |

My name is Bob Chavis. I'm 27 years old. I am a Silk Screen Printer. I got involved with the organization APART because of the train accident that took the life of my sister Tiffany Boylan. I feel that something must be done to make people aware of the dangers of the railroads and railroad tracks. I also think the railroads must be made aware of the dangers of traveling through neiborhood communities at high speeds. And also at the ease of access of the tracks by people to walk and cross the tracks. |

My first memory of death by train was in the 1950's. A messenger handed my very favorite Math teacher a note during class that a ninth grader had skipped school with his girlfriend. A train killed both of them. I will never forget her reaction. Then, in 1989, a train killed my nephew while taking a short cut with his friends. I know that I cannot do anything to turn the clock back for my nephew or the two teenagers. Residents of all communities must be protected from and informed of the dangers of moving trains. Let us make it possible to educate everyone to avoid the tracks! As a member of APART, I hope to see this happen. |

Secretary WEB Page Designer Programmer ![]() Don De Sipio |
I am married with one daughter. I lost my son Mark and our German Shepard family pet Rex instantly and together to
a CSX freight train in Delaware County, PA in January 1990. Being a deeply bereaved and shattered parent, whose hopes and dreams for the future of his son have been destroyed by a second in time, I have an acute desire to educate anyone who lives near or has reason to cross any stretch of railroad track, Freight or Passenger, in my, or any other country. It is to this end that I implore you to tell your story, to share your experience with many others, so you too could educate someone and perhaps save a life. In January 1996 through Compassionate Friends, a common bereavement group, Tom and Marlene found out that many members of the group had railroad tragedy in common. As the result of a simple mailing, they managed to get in touch with me. Having been an IBM main frame programmer for thirty three years, (starting with only a 386, 27 MHz, PC) I accepted the new challenge of designing and programming this page for APART. It could be, that through this means of communication, we as a civilized society, friends and neighbors, working together, in a common cause, may be able to change the way a big piece of corporate America thinks toward human life and does business. PS This is my first attempt at WEB publishing, I will accept technical, constructive criticism by E-Mail on any part of this WEB Page. Don D.S. |
