The Beach Scene
The island of Hawaii is double the size of all the other islands put together. It also has less tourism which means less crowded beaches for the most part. A few are well known, ranked as the best in the US, and everyone can drive to them. Some others are also spectacular, a bit more remote and will be missed by most visitors.
These less visited beaches are scattered about the island, many are inaccessible to those without time or energy to venture on a scenic walk. A person or group willing to go for a walk, a kayak or hike can often find themselves enjoying pristine white or black sand, swimsuit optional, or a 6 mile (roundtrip) hike can get you to a rare green sand beach.
We have a variety of hikes or kayak trips to secluded beaches that are missed by the vast majority of visitors. Some are short (a mile or two roundtrip) and there are many more of differing lengths, some requiring a day trip or an overnight camp.
