Wilderun sat quietly in the mist of the DiVanni countryside as it had for many years before and hopefully would for many years to come. When the Baroness Dominique DiVanni died after so many glorious years ruling her people - much had been done. She had survived the Religious Rebellion of Sepulchrave many years before, the fall of Moritani, and numerous assasination attempts upon her life -- all of which had faild miserably.
Suddenly the whispers that had always surrounded the House of DiVanni were shouted from even the highest peaks of Stanton; there was evil doing in the lands of DiVanni and its entire family had been tainted by this crime.
After the death of the famed Baroness the entire DiVanni family was taken into the custody of the church - including the would-be Baron DiVanni. Many years passed while Wilderun still stood, but now at the hands of regents who would rule in the stead of the blood that had been shed in this city for so many years.
However, with the grace and compassion of Ullarasis III, the youngest son of the DiVanni blood was released and allowed the freedom to return to his people. There were celebrations all over DiVanni and it was finally hoped that their people would finally be ruled by the Baron of their own blood.
When the church recieved word that Ullarasis III had allowed young Hastings DiVanni freed the Cardinal was immediatly angry and moved for Asai with his supporters to do what could could be done. It was finally agreed by the most wise King and the Cardinal himself that in exchange for the release of Hastings DiVanni; the Cardinal would be allowed a parish in the lands of DiVanni to make sure that no such evil was ever to take place there again. Since that time, each Cardinal has kept official residence in the DiVanni lands.
The house still remains in some question by more conservative houses, but Wilderun is once again home to it's rightful leader in the form of the current Baroness Mania DiVanni; who has -- at such a young age, already been compared to the great Dominique DiVanni of so many years before.
