The Columbus Vipers
finished the 2004 beepball season with an overall record of 7 wins, 12 losses,
and 1 tie. This winning percentage of
.350 was a slight improvement over 2003 when the team won 7 and lost 14. The Vipers participated in three regional
tournaments in Topeka, Bolingbrook, and Cleveland, and were the host team for
the World Series inColumbus. The
Vipers’ 3 and 1 record at the Topeka regional put them in a tie for first place
out of 5 teams. Their two and 2 record
at the Bolingbrook Beepball Bash, including a 10-inning victory over the Comits
Red team, gave them a fourth-place finish out of 8 teams. The Vipers fell on hard times at the Ohio
Classic in Cleveland, finishing with a 0 and 4 record. The disappointment continued at the World
Series where the Vipers were able to salvage only two wins against the Chicago
Bluff and the Rocky Mountain Eagles.
Despite mediocre success on the field, the Vipers and the Central Ohio
Beep Baseball association will always remember 2004 because we hosted the best
World Series in the 29-year history of the event!
