Important Facts

This is my oldest known Thweatt ancestor. He was born around 1825 in Mississippi. His wife was named Lydia and she was from South Carolina. He moved his family from Madison County, Mississippi to Polk County, Arkansas around 1860 and fought for the South in the Civil War. He was in K company of the 9th Arkansas Infantry.

William Gerome Thweatt
(born c1856 died 9 July 1934)

This is Auther's son. He was born in Mississippi. He married Tisha Elvira Widner in Arkansas in the 1870's and they began a large family there with at least 10 children. They all moved across statelines to Broken Bow, Oklahoma (McCurtain County) sometime between 1897 and 1909. When his children were grown, he bought land somewhere in Texas. He died there and was taken back to Broken Bow by his children to be buried at Holly Creek Cemetery. Click here to see a copy of his (and his wife's) obituary.

This is one of William Gerome Thweatt's 10+ children. He was born in Cove, Arkansas (Polk County). He married to Bertie Lee Harrison on June 6, 1909 probably in Oklahoma. They had 8 children. He moved his family from OK to Stockton, CA (San Joaquin County) in the 1930's. He worked in railroad roundhouses. He is buried at the rural cemetery in Stockton, CA.

This is one of Joseph David Thweatt's sons. He was born in South Eastern Oaklahoma. He married Joice Marolyn Carter on his birthday in 1947 in Nevada. They have 4 children. He has worked many jobs throughout his life but is a skilled carpenter by trade. He can build a house from the ground up and turn a formless lump of wood into a work of art. He is the strongest, gentlest man I know and I look up to him more that anybody else on this earth as an example of how to live life. He plays the guitar and sings and can fix just about anything. He's my Grandfather.
